The bibliometric evaluation of scientific output in hepatology in Colombia constitutes a strategic tool for understanding the evolution of knowledge surrounding the country’s most relevant liver diseases. This type of analysis allows for the identification not only of the topics generating the greatest research interest—such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), viral hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and portal hypertension—but also of collaboration patterns among national and international institutions, as well as thematic gaps that may represent opportunities for the development of new research lines.
