Hepatic venous outflow tract obstruction, also known as Budd-Chiari syndrome, is a rare condition that causes hepatic congestion, portal hypertension, hepatocyte necrosis and eventually acute or chronic liver failure. Currently, the management of this condition represents a challenge for the physician, who must be prepared to determine the best alternative among the different therapeutic options available. This article aims to illustrate the alternatives of interventional management of this disease, through a series of cases of patients treated in the Interventional Radiology service of a referral hospital in the city of Medellin, between 2011 and 2017.
